Michael Hendi Henderson is a Northern Irish Broadcaster, best known as one of the

 

 

first presenters on Northern Ireland’s first Commercial Radio Station which

 

 

started broadcasting on 16" March 1976. The programme was called Hendi’s

 

 

Happy House.

 

 

 

 

 

Hendi began his broadcasting career in the mid 60’s, working for the BBC

 

 

Northern Ireland Home Service on various programmes, mainly as a presenter on

 

 

an Arts Programme called Soundings. He became a well known figure on the local

 

 

Club and Disco scene as well as many guest appearances on the BBC Radio 1 Club

 

 

roadshows.

 

 

 

 

 

In 1968 Hendi made his television debut starring in an Ulster Television Pop series

 

 

called Zoom In, produced by Gordon Burns ( later presenter of The Krypton

 

 

Factor) and Tony Eames.

 

 

 

 

 

Hendi continued working in the major discos and clubs throughout the late 60’

 

 

and early 70’s.

 

 

 

 

 

In 1976 Hendi was hired as a presenter for the fledgling Commercial Radio Station

 

 

Downtown Radio and remained there until 1985 when he moved to work as a

 

 

radio producer and stand in presenter for BBC Northern Ireland. As a freelancer

 

 

he worked for Ulster Television on a quiz programme called Password, two years

 

 

later in 1987,he became a researcher/booker on the famous long running Kelly

 

 

Show.

 

 

 

 

 

Whilst working in there he was asked provide Voiceovers for UTV, as the station

 

 

began to re-voice programme trailers produced by the ITV Network.

 

 

 

 

 

In addition to the trailers Hendi’s voice was heard on the introductions for various

 

 

programmes including The Kelly Show. He also voiced many Television and Radio

 

 

Adverts including the very first TV ads for Lidl and many Corporate Videos.

 

 

 

 

 

In 2000 Hendi Moved back to BBC Television and started a five year spell with

 

 

them as a celebrity booker for large light entertainment programmes such as

 

 

Children in need, Making a difference, Hot press Rock and Pop Awards.

 

 

 

 

 

Hendi was also the in-vision announcer and straight man on the networked

 

 

comedy chat show Patrick Keilty.. almost Live, and appeared in another

 

 

networked show called Just for Laughs.

 

 

 

 

 

In 2005 Hendi returned to Radio and presented a morning weekend show on

 

 

U105fm a new local station for Belfast.

 

 

 

 

 

Hendi now presents a weekly morning show Hendi’s Hits from 10:00 until 1:00pm

 

 

on Slice Audio a local web based station broadcasting to the world.
